Two day Lowe Maintenance certificated course that will introduce you to the traditional skill of hedgelaying in the local regional style.
Date: 5th – 6th March 2018
Location: Lowe Maintenance BD24 9DN
Hedgelaying is an ancient traditional countryside craft with many different regional styles. It involves partially cutting through the stems, laying them over and weaving them together to produce a thick living barrier which then regrows from the base.
The basic principals of the cutting method are the same for all the regional styles, but the weaving, staking and presentation of the hedge differs between regions. This reflects the differences in the agricultural systems and practices of the different parts of the country, whether it is a sheep rearing area, cattle rearing or even arable farming area.
Lowe maintenance training are based in Settle, they offer a comprehensive range of practical skills courses.
