A Royal visit

Prince Charles called into Chapel le Dale in March to meet the Stories in Stone rural trainees, whose posts are being part-funded by the Prince’s Countryside Fund. The traineeships aim to help young people to develop careers in land management and conservation. He first met Chloë Lumsdon, our trainee based with Natural England at the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve, who was helping youngsters from Bentham Community Primary School to plant wildflower plugs into a meadow undergoing restoration. Then he met Tom Hickey and Liam Johnson, apprentices based with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, who were carrying out repairs to a stretch of dry stone walling.
